My Morning Ritual: How I Choose How I Want to Feel
How a few intentional moments can change the way we begin our day.

Why How We Begin Matters
There is something I have come to believe more deeply with every passing year: how we begin our day matters.
Not because every morning needs to be perfect. Mine certainly aren't.
Life has a way of arriving before we're ready for it. There are emails waiting, decisions to make, people who need us, responsibilities that don't disappear simply because we would like another cup of coffee first.
And now, as a mom, a grandmother, and the founder of Lifetherapy, I have an even greater appreciation for how quickly life moves.
For much of my life, I have been creating experiences for other people. My hospitality background taught me that the smallest details can change how someone feels. The way a room smells when you walk in. The light in the room. Something warm to drink. A beautiful bath waiting after a long day. The feeling that someone thought about you before you arrived.
I think that is where much of Lifetherapy was born.
Because I began to wonder: What if we offered that same kind of hospitality to ourselves?
Not an elaborate routine. Not another thing on our list to accomplish. Just a few intentional moments.
My Morning Ritual
For me, my morning ritual begins with creating an atmosphere before the world starts asking for my attention. I light Grounded Candle, take a few quiet breaths, and give myself a moment before reaching for my phone.
Then I shower with Energized Body Wash and let the fragrance awaken my senses. I hydrate with Empowered Lotion and remind myself to take care of me, too. And before I step into the day, I apply Empowered Pulse Point Oil Perfume.
The fragrance stays with me.
And that matters.
Because scent has this extraordinary ability to bring us back to a feeling. A breath of fragrance in the middle of a busy day can remind me of the intention I had that morning.
I've come to think of my morning routine less as a list of things to accomplish and more as a daily self-care ritual that helps me choose how I want to feel.
Choosing My Mood
How do I want to feel today?
Grounded. Loved. Energized. Empowered. Inspired. Transformed.
Those words have become much more than fragrance names to me. They are reminders that we have some choice in how we meet the day, even when we cannot control what the day brings.
That idea is at the heart of Lifetherapy's Choose Your Mood™ philosophy.
We can't always choose what happens around us. We can't control the news, the unexpected phone call, the difficult conversation, or the demands that come our way.
But sometimes we can choose the feeling we want to carry into it.
I don't always get it right. None of us do. But I have learned that a few quiet minutes can change the way I walk into the next twelve hours.
Making Room for Ourselves
And perhaps that is what a ritual really is.
It is not about adding more to our lives. It is about making a little more room for ourselves inside the lives we already have.
So tomorrow morning, before the world begins asking for your attention, I hope you give yourself a few moments first. Light something, breathe, wash away yesterday, moisturize, choose a fragrance, and choose how you want to feel. Then go live your day.
Because sometimes the smallest rituals can create the biggest shift.
And if my morning ritual inspires you, I hope you make it your own. Maybe your ritual looks completely different from mine. Maybe it is five minutes with a cup of coffee, a walk outside, a favorite fragrance, a quiet prayer, music in the kitchen, or simply standing still before the day begins.
There is no right way to create a ritual. There is only the way that helps you feel more like yourself.
